TifTuf: A Versatile Bermuda grass for all uses

Bermuda Grass Sydney

There are many different Bermuda grass varieties on the market. Still, many people choose TifTuf Bermuda grass over others because it is highly adaptive under various conditions making it suitable for many applications such as sports fields, playgrounds, home lawns, golf courses and more!

Here are some tips for getting an excellent finish every time.

1) Watering -

The best time to water your lawn is early in the morning. This allows the water to soak into the soil before the sun can dry it up. Watering after 5 pm is not recommended as grass loses 50% of water to evaporation.

2) Mowing -

Mowing once a week encourages a healthy, lush lawn. Set your mower on a high setting and sharpen the blades every six months. Make sure your grass is dry when you are ready to mow.

3) Choosing your trimmer -

A sharp trimmer is vital. Use a blade that is the correct size for the area you need to trim. Set the trimmer to flush with the ground, so you don't cut any grass shorter than 3/4".

4) Fertilising -

TifTuf Bermuda grass needs 3-4 applications per year, from April to September. Choose a balanced fertiliser (high in phosphorous) and apply 1-3 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft per application according to directions on the packaging.

5) Edging and tapering -

Keep your lawn edges distinct by keeping them 1/4"-1/2" higher than the rest of the grounds. This is easy to do with a string trimmer. Taper the property by trimming the outsides of the yard at a 45-degree angle.

6) Seeding -

Even though TifTuf Bermuda grass is a seeded variety, you can sow it on your lawn to fill in bare patches. You can also sow Bermuda grass seed to create a whole new property. Both are quickly done with a spreader.
